Todd Rutledge Memorial
Background:The son of Richard and Gay Rutledge, Todd was a product of the Caldwell school system, graduating from Caldwell High School in 1971. Early on he set his sights on a legal career, graduating from Boise State University in 1976. After one year as a pre-sentence investigator in Boise, he began attending law school and graduated from Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland in the year 1981. He was a partner in the law firm of Boettcher, LaLonde, Kleweno, Rutledge, Jahn, and Holtmann in Vancouver, Washington from 1981 until his death from melanoma on March 18, 1998. He began his law practice as a trial lawyer and eventually specialized in Workmen's Compensation.
Todd was a free-spirited person known for his quick wit and love of life and learning. He had a lifetime interest in music and played in a rock-and-roll band in Vancouver consisting of other attorneys and associates. He was an avid runner and astronomer. His biggest joy in life was to give someone a hand through his legal work or as a friend. This is why the family chose to offer his scholarship to a worthy student who is trying to rise above the odds.
