Description
Mary Ann Crookham was born and raised in Caldwell, Idaho and graduated from Caldwell High School in 1978. Mary was an accomplished competitive swimmer and diver and had a great love of animals and participated in 4-H, competed in barrel racing, trail riding, and goat roping.
Mary attended the University of Washington. She joined the family business (Crookham Company) and served as its Chief Financial Officer for 17 years. Mary was a seed business innovator in the use of computer software technology. Mary was very involved in community service including service as a Board member of this Foundation, the Idaho Youth Games Board, and she served as a Trustee of the College of Idaho. Mary and Crookham Company were on the ground floor in their support of the United Way’s P16 program in Caldwell. She had a great fondness for reading and was keenly aware of how critically important it is for children to learn to read during their preschool through third grade years. She was aware and concerned that there are many children in the Caldwell community in need of support at this critical juncture of their lives.
In honor of the life of Mary Ann Crookham – 1960-2018, a grant fund, Mary Ann Crookham Literacy Grant (MACLGF), was established. The MACLGF will focus on one of Mary’s most prominent passions, the education of our children within the Caldwell School District. Specifically, this grant will focus on K-3 literacy, a time at which children are most at risk of irrevocably falling behind their grade level and peers.
Please join us in Mary’s endeavor to support our local youth by donating to this fund. For any recommendations or questions on projects/capital allocation, please reach out to the CFEO for committee member contact information. Thank you!
