Charlie Alvaro Memorial Scholarship

Background

Charlie Alvaro was born April 22, 1938. He was raised and educated in Honolulu, Hawaii, attending St. Louis High School. He attended the College of Idaho and received All-American honors as a quarterback and kicker. He graduated from the College of Idaho in 1960 and began his career as a teacher and coach at Jefferson Junior High School.In 1964, Charlie moved to the Caldwell Senior High School where he served as head baseball coach, head football coach, and also served several years as an assistant in the Boy’s Basketball program. He was also very active in the community and coaching association. Charlie served as a summer recreation director for several years and in a variety of leadership positions in the Coach’s Association. He also worked as a district and state basketball official. Charlie’s greatest contributions to all that came in contact with him were his humor, caring, and his unquestioning friendship.Charlie Alvaro died of a heart attack on Wednesday, September 17, 1986.
