Ron Maxwell Memorial Scholarship

Background

Ron Maxwell was born November 16, 1950 in Seattle, Washington. He spent his formative years in Filer, Idaho. Ron attended Boise State University where he played varsity basketball for three years, was a starter for two years, and graduated in 1974. Ron married Jacque Harris in 1973. They raised two children, Alex and Andrea, in Caldwell and both children attended the Caldwell School System. Ron, in his earlier years, taught school and was a coach at Filer High School and Middleton High School. He was employed by Wrightline, Inc., an office equipment business, for eight years before his death in 1993. Ron was a disciplined, outgoing and engaging individual with a good sense of humor. He was deeply involved with his children and the athletic programs in which they participated, especially basketball, baseball, and golf. Ron was a man who loved to help children reach their athletic potential. He was a member of the Caldwell Men’s Golf Association, Caldwell Booster Club, and Caldwell Elk’s Lodge. He worked with the Caldwell Junior Golf Association, Girls’ Youth Softball, YBA and AAU basketball and Boys’ Baseball. Ron was also an avid fisherman and hunter.

  • An Athlete with Demonstrated Effort and Commitment

  • Good character and Citizenship

  • Demonstrated School/Community Service

  • Previous recipient is eligible if pursuing continued eligible education within three years of previous award
