Class of '72 Scholarship
Background
This scholarship fund was established by the CFEO Board of Directors at the request of the Class of 1972 in memory of their classmate Jimmy Marcus. This Class of 1972 was highly regarded by teachers and administrators for their dedication and enthusiasm. Jimmy Marcus was a classmate distinguished by his honesty, integrity, loyalty, and compassion. He was a respectful leader of the Student Council, President of the Student Body, Boys State Senator, National Honor Society member; he received the Degree of Honor of “Who’s Who of American Students” awards and graduated in the Top 10 of his class. He excelled in his service to the community, his church, and in his commitment to others in need.
After graduating from CHS, Jimmy went to the College of Idaho. Unfortunately, at the age of 21, Jimmy drowned in a boating accident in the open sea off Lanai, Hawaii on July 7, 1975.
The Class of ’72 could not have chosen a better representative than Jimmy for this scholarship. He was a leader, and everyone looked up to him. His ties to the College of Idaho and to Caldwell made it an easy decision for a scholarship to go to a worthy graduating senior from Caldwell High School, who attends the College of Idaho, to receive this award as determined by the Class of 1972 committee.
